Should Christians Invest in the Stock Market?

Picture this scenario: A Christian who publicly teaches others that God's law demands "Thou Shalt Not Kill" somehow takes a portion of his income and places it in a mixed investment portfolio that has gun stocks. Or lets say, this Christian also believes that the large monopolies and business conglomerates are a part of the reason for the economic difficulties the world is facing: causing the abuse of the poorer classes by low non-livable wages, poor working conditions and the destruction of fair market competition. Noting also that they will be apart of the oppressive setup relating to buying and selling according to Revelation 13 in the last days; Nonetheless, such a person invests in Hedge funds or Walmart, Google and Amazon with the hopeful grin of large returns. Did that Christian put his money where his mouth is?
Many Christians are currently making the mistake of using their money to enlarge the kingdom of oppressors while saying that they look for that better city. Many of the poor seeking an opportunity to improve their circumstances invest, many rich seeking to multiply riches invest in schemes. Many schemes including insurance policies and varied plans are hemming up the money of God's professed people while His work lies in financial need to extend the light of His kingdom. The pen of inspiration gives insight that this is indeed a plan of Satan himself:
"We must keep in our ranks all the means of which we can gain control. The more means the followers of Christ devote to His service, the more will they injure our kingdom by getting our subjects. Control the money matters if you can, and drive their ministers to want and distress. This will weaken their courage and zeal. Battle every inch of ground. Make covetousness and love of earthly treasures the ruling traits of their character. As long as these traits rule, salvation and grace stand back." { Christian Education & Teachings 171.2 }
The growing interest in stocks and investments has blinded many Christians to the fact that many of these companies obtain there profits by much cruelty and oppression and this will be the case just before the coming of Jesus Christ. The book of James 5:1-3 explains:
"Go to now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you].
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days."
Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. "
Investopedia in a survey revealed an astounding fact in the increase of millionaires and billionaires:
  1. The number of millionaires increased substantially between 2020 and 2021.
  2. Much of the new wealth was gained in the last half of 2020, as the stock markets rose and housing prices soared.
  3. The number of "ultra-high net worth individuals," the wealthiest category, grew by 24%.
  4. There was an increase of 660 billionaires in one year  (1)
This indeed corresponds with the scriptures that we are truly in the last days as the conditions of the poor has not improved correspondingly to the wealth increase of the rich. The Christian who is tempted to invest his means should remember that it is not wise to throw their money in a sinking ship which this world is. But as Christ instructs "lay up your treasures in heaven" Matt 6:19-24 KJV. The parables were also used to give instruction as to where our investments aught to be:  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchantman, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matt 13:45 KJV. Another Parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.’..Matt 13:44 KJV. Both parables illustrate the investment made to secure the worthy object of truth and the kingdom of God.
Many Christians would reason that the returns on investments can be contributed to Gods work and would serve a double benefit but once again we do not know to what end our money will be invested and based on the immediate needs for Christian service it is not wise to have funds tied up in accounts.
The approved way of increase given by God can be found in Genesis 3:19KJV : "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground;.." This method may seem boring and rigorous to the those desirous of increase but God promised his blessings over our property and labor emphasizing that our increase would be preserved.
"The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow." Deuteronomy 28:12 KJV
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malachi 3:10 KJV
It is full time time for us to invest our means into the Lords institutions that are truly doing his work: The publishing houses, health restaurants, mission work, radio, television and the many other avenues for promulgating the gospel and as we do this Lord will multiply. The proof is in the eating will you not try it?
